Lying face-down everything is a blur.
Only by sitting up and putting my glasses on will I ever be able to see.
Able to see the path that was meant for me
meant to make me truly happy.

I work. I sleep. I seem to barely hold on.
Academic probation. Denial and damnation.
I refuse to believe. I refuse to choose
to go along with their fancy sherade.

Sitting and shivering, I decide to add another layer on.
Who knows where my path will take me.
Perhaps somewhere warmer...
warmer than this damn cold and judgmental room anyway.

I smile to make others happy,
and I suppose that it does its job well.
I just wish I do more...
without killing myself that is.

As I turn the light on, I understand which path I need to take.
I will take the steps,
one by one,
and I will conquérait. (have conquered)

My dreams are my own,
and nobody can tell me differently.
I will prove my worth and ability through my determination.
I don't need their soulless academic achievements.

When I get there I'll smile and laugh,
but not because I've shown them all I can do it.
The wind will graze my kiss to the world
of those who are like me.

The ones who must work. The ones who sometimes cry.
I will kiss the ones who would rather die
than give up their humanity for another person's cookie-cutter mold
of their dream.
